Our biggest project yet, the Kalpakkam project has been a resounding success for us! We had collaborated with YOU India (Youth Organization for Upliftment) for a four-day programme that included a medical camp in Kodur village and career counselling for students of Pavnjur village.
Students were put through specifically designed psychometric tests to identify their talents and were given counselling accordingly. Also, the medical camp went well thanks to 4 doctors who had volunteered to help us and we also gave away free medication for the doctors’ prescriptions. A few images from our campaign..

Shri Saradha Sakthi Peetam, a school for orphaned children, was started in the year 1988 by the founder Swamiji Sarvathmanthar with ten orphans in a small hut. Later, it was developed as a school with more children. He further managed to build a small residential school with money he collected from the nearby villages.

Our second activity was a 1-day programme for the children of Shri Sharadha Madam located in Perungalathur. 19 of us had organized various fun games for the children and awarded the winners (and everyone else!). At the end of day (with a special movie screened for them), it was extremely satisfying to have done something special for the children.

Vasantham (meaning “Spring”), a special school for the mentally challenged, was established on the 2nd October 1989 with six children at Mogappair (East) on the outskirts of Chennai.
With continuous support from individual donors, corporates and institutions, Vasantham has now grown to the extent of taking care of 126 children under its shelter.

This being one of our very first outdoor ativities, we had learnt a few lessons and we realized we’ve got more responsibility now. Looking forward to more such wonderful experiences!
